JACK W. CANTWELL
JACK CANTWELL was awarded a Dramalogue Critics' Award for his one-person show AN EVENING WITH H. L. MENCKEN which he wrote and in which he performs.

He also wrote, produced, directed, and acted in the ensemble production, THE AGES OF MAN at the University of Missouri. A member of Actors' Equity and AFTRA, he attended Central Methodist College in Fayette, Missouri and Stanford University. He was a U. S. Marine for four years and served with the U.S. embassies in Warsaw, Poland and Madrid, Spain. He earned his Bachelor's Degree and Master of Arts Degree in acting and directing at California State University, Fullerton where he subsequently taught for two and one half years.

Jack and Allen Nause formed the acting company, NATIONAL THEATRE EXPRESS with which they toured the United States and Africa and South Asia on behalf of The United States Information Agency. Jack recently directed Allen Nause and Katherine Hawkes in Murray Schisgal's "The Typists. He lived for twelve years in Ashland, Oregon where he performed several years with The Oregon Shakespeare Festival. Portland audiences have seen Jack as Ben in LITTLE FOXES, Phil Hogan in A MOON FOR THE MISBEGOTTEN, and H. L. Mencken in AN EVENING WITH H.L. MENCKEN. Other representative roles have been Archie Rice in THE ENTERTAINER, Nicia in ROOT OF THE MANDRAKE, Jamie Tyrone in A LONG DAY'S JOURNEY INTO NIGHT, Donnie Dubrow in AMERICAN BUFFALO, George in WHO'S AFRAID OF VIRGINIA WOLF, Mr. Antrobus in SKIN OF OUR TEETH, Frank Elgin in A COUNTRY GIRL, and Scrooge in A CHRISTMAS CAROL

Jack began his Theatre studies at the age of thirty four after a successful career in the life insurance industry. He is married to Ellen and they recently celebrated their forty first anniversary. They have two sons, Brad and "Q" and grandson McCoy. Jack stopped acting in 1989, because of rheumatoid arthritis and began a new career as a Structured Settlement Specialist. Jack soon became his company's highest producer. He retired in 2000, for health reasons but, thanks to the miracle of modern medicines he is well and BACK !!!
